Feelings and thoughts after week 1 and my experience w/ technology

This is my best use of the internet...self diagnosis!  jk! I feel ok now and I look forward to getting really good at different forums and applying it in my own classroom one day. My worries are, I will be lost and confused. That's not too far off from my usual day to day feelings...so, I will be fine!

Challenge; Week 2: Artifact from the Near-Future

What was your favorite topic, article or video? Why?

I really enjoyed the Dracula article. I appreciate working with a piece of literature, that's been around for so long and altered and re-imagined, in various ways and yet again taking it to a new level. I appreciated the way the author incorporated a new media and let it take its' own course, by the readers, which then allowed scholars on the subject to include maps or different interpretations or perspectives that allowed for another layer onto the story, that otherwise would have been undiscovered. I think this would be a cool activity for my own classroom, that students could use to promote discussion about artifacts or literature, and will expand the interest in the subject or spur an assessment that shows true interest and a high quality product.

What was the best hypothes.is discussion? Why? Provide quotes.

Blogging literature: the Draculablog begins again

This was the best hypothes.is discussion, because it seemed to get the most conversation and interest in the subject. I find that most of us enjoyed the article, the subject, and the development of this blog. It seemed to spur ideas and get some really interested in doing a classroom rendition of something similar.

"A way to create a richer experience especially with people who have worked with the next extensively and can provide insight that would not be available to someone reading a paper version."-barbeecasa

"I think that is so important because of the way the vampire as a figure has changed as culture has changed. That could be a great discussion to have with students! -aescalante

"It also could be used to enhance the myth, as new activities of the count are reported. Maybe he is still alive and roaming the earth having adventures." -John Foyle

What was your favorite creation from a classmate? Who impressed you? Why?

Sam's Mr. Millennial Man! was my most favorite, as it was impressive with the drawing skill and delivery of what a true millennial man is and his persona/ideals/life goals. Sam's a hilarious person and I enjoy his sense of humor and I expected nothing less, when it came to this super hero!

What did you make and what tools did you use? (challenges, dialogs, weekly-thing)
I made a piktochart using one of their templates. I used a picture off the internet for my superhero, but I found out from Mandy that they have a create your superhero/sidekick website and now I regret it all! I would love to see where it takes me!!! I still love my super hero, as it is inspired by RuPaul's Drag Race, one of the Queen's who I really liked and "slayed all day."

How did you challenge yourself? What was your biggest stretch?
To be honest, joining this class was step 1 in challenges, as I would not use creative, especially digitally, as a good descriptor word for myself. I often spend way too much time on minute details and loose site of the big picture and I get frustrated. I didn't challenge myself too much with the piktochart, it was my safe go to. I learned about it and had to use it my SPED class, but it was a safe thing I knew I could do, in a timely manner. I do not know what my biggest stretch is. Can getting through all the tasks be my biggest stretch???
